Democracy in Political Thought of Information Age Scholars

Political phenomena such as democracy are defined in time and place context. In fact, the definition and components of political phenomena such as democracy would be transformed social, political and even technological transformation. Although democracy has a long term historical record, the changes in all dimensions of human life, including technology, economy, family, lifestyle, globalization and media have transformed the nature of democracy. Moreover, increasing challenges in societies such as identity crisis and moral crisis, superficiality, decline of thought in society, specialization, complication, increase of fear among people, anxiety and disappointments, increase of welfare would transform the meaning and function of democracy. So, philosophers such as Jürgen Habermas, Alain Touraine, Pierre Bourdieu and David Held have talked about cosmopolitan, emotional, consultative and electronic democracy which are responsible to human in political, economic, moral sphere in twenty first century.
