Iran's foreign policy towards Syria crisis (2010-2016)Dr. Vladimir YvrtayfBehzad DyansayyAbstract:The formation of Syria crisis in the last month of 2010 was simultaneous with Arab spring and Islamic awakening. Some foreign policy analysts believe that Syria crisis is similar to the revolutionary movements in the region's countries, some others think that the crisis resulted from external sources. The formation of terrorist groups and fundamentalists, who have launch an onslaught against Syria, given the two countries converged in the Middle East since Islamic revolution, and Syria's support for Iran in Iraq-Iran war, and the support for the resistance in Lebanon, and defensive agreement between Iran and Syria, would put Islamic Republic of Iran in a position to monitor the developments in the country and the region and to defend the interests of Syrian government and people in the geopolitical struggle. Due to heavy fighting in Syria and advances of groups such as Al-Nusrah in Syrian soil and imminent danger of attack on Syrian government held regions, including Lattakia province, Bashar Assad, president of Syria, urged Russia to intervene militarily in Syria in order to fight against terrorist groups such as ISIS and Al-Nusrah. Iran and Iraq have supported Russia in intervening militarily in Syria. By doing so, they formed a coalition in Syria that provokes a reaction from regional and international actors who oppose Syrian government including the United States, Turkey and Saudi Arabia. The multiple coalition (Russia, Iran, Iraq and Syria) is against anti-ISIS coalition led by the United States and had grave regional and international consequences.Key word: Foreign policy, Coalition, Realism, National interest, Middle East

The role of science diplomacy in the pursuit of states' national interests (With emphasis on knowledge based companies)Dr, Mohammad reza dehshiriTaiba mohammadi pourAbstract:Science diplomacy refers to the scientific capabilities as the means of states to interact with other countries and nations in diplomatic relations. The science diplomacy is used to serve the states' national interests on the basis of various approaches such as economic approaches, marketing, providing an income, increasing the influence, gaining international prestige, and increasing the security, production of knowledge and mobilization of sources. The states use knowledge based companies as one of the most important means of science diplomacy for interaction between states and the pursuit of national interest because they use technology to produce commodities and to provide services. So the question of research is: how could science diplomacy pursue the national interests of states by using the capabilities of knowledge based companies? The hypothesis would suggest that science diplomacy provides opportunities for the interaction and gaining prestige for creation of wealth by using capacity of knowledge based companies in technology transfer and by creating foreign markets for the knowledge based commodities.Key words: Science diplomacy, National interest, Knowledge based companies.

Mutual threats between Iran and the United States of AmericaDr, Ahmad JansizEhsan ejaziAbstract:Since the Islamic revolution in Iran, the United States and Islamic Republic of Iran have adopted a hostile approach toward each other, though, it has been associated with varying degree of intensity in different time periods. So the author of the article has assessed the degree of threat based on balance of threat theory was proposed by Stephen Walt. The article is supposed to answer this question: to what extent United States and Islamic Republic of Iran could pose a threat to each other? In order to answer to the question, the author would analyze the balance of threat theory's variables, including aggregate strength, geographic proximity, offensive capabilities and offensive intentions. Finally, the research findings suggest, given the assumptions of balance of threat theory, Islamic Republic of Iran would not pose an imminent threat to the United States, however, the United States would pose a potential and serious threat to the Islamic Republic of Iran's security.Key words: balance of threat, Islamic Republic of Iran, United States.
